National MENC Mission

To advance music education by encouraging the study and making of music by all.

TCNJ MENC Mission

To provide opportunities for all music students to extend their classroom knowledge as they pursue their careers as music educators.

As a professional organization TCNJ MENC sponsors educational events, clinics, conventions, speakers, and all other enriching activities that take the college music education student beyond traditional classroom learning experiences. Through these experiences, MENC members are able to understand what it is like to be an educator, make contacts with current educators and professionals in the field, and learn from the vast knowledge pool that MENC membership provides. The result of a collegiate MENC membership at TCNJ is to successfully enter a teaching career or graduate program after graduation.

As a professional organization, MENC works to provide events that are both educational, and enjoyable. It is our goal to provide future music educators with experiences that will help them understand the process of becoming an educator, make contacts with current educators, and successfully enter a school or graduate program.

Letter From The President

I’d like to take a moment to welcome all of the new freshmen and welcome back to all of the upperclassmen. For those who don’t know me, my name is Amy Wilcox and I am the President of MENC for the 2007-2008 school year.

We have many exciting events planned for this year. TCNJ is honored to be hosting the annual Collegiate Convention on February 2nd, 2008. We have many exciting clinics planned and it will definitely be an event to put on your calendar. Check out our events page of the website for more information on this great day!

Every step of our registration process will be online this year, including our individual chapter registration and directory registration! Please visit the link on the above left hand side to find out more information, including a step by step explanation on how to complete registration. Be sure to complete this by October 5th, 2007 to ensure that you register all of the member benefits!

Our meetings will be held at 7 pm on Thursdays in the Choir Room. Each meeting will feature a different educational topic with speakers that will include TCNJ students, professors, and outside clinicians. Check our calendar for more information on the topics. I hope to see you there!
